Cobalt Spinel is a remarkable Q-switching crystal with the formula Co:MgAl₂O₄. It absorbs light across a wide wavelength band from 1200 to 1600nm. It’s a good passive Q-switch for lasers operating at the eye-safe 1.5 micrometer wavelength.
